Lattice Boltzmann Simulations of Particle-scale flow |
The lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) has emerged as a viable approach for
computational fluid dynamics due to its high parallel performance and
scalability. The LBM is well suited for simulations of complex and
large-scale problems on supercomputers. Numerical investigations of
resolved particle simulations can be performed by coupling the LBM with
a discrete element method (DEM) for gas-solid flow containing large
number of unary and binary (different size and density) particles. We
are working on validation of LBM code (WalBerla) in collaboration with
Prof. Ulrich Ruede, LSS FAU Erlangen, Germany. The validated LBM code
will be further used to understand the dynamics of unary and binary
gas-solid flows. |
